Obama To Mandate Paid Family Leave For Federal Workers

As part of a series of actions to help support the middle class, President Obama will announce on Thursday measures to support paid family leave. He will sign a memorandum mandating that federal agencies offer advances on up to six weeks of paid leave, propose $2.2 billion in funding to help states establish paid leave programs, and call on Congress to pass the Healthy Families Act, which would require companies to let workers accumulate paid sick time.
